Five Mile Lane – HP Diversion

In February 2019, Green Frog Utilities Ltd was awarded the contract to construct, install and commission 330m of 300mm diameter welded high pressure gas pipeline near Rhoose on behalf of Wales and West Utilities.

These diversion works being necessary to facilitate the new major A4226 carriageway running from the Sycamore Cross junction of the A48 to the Weycock Cross roundabout in Barry.

Green Frog Gas Utilities, acting as principal contractor, commenced works in April 2019 and completed all works on time and on budget by the end of June 2019.

Work content

  • Stakeholder liaison, engagement, and management
  • Co-ordination and works management including construction audits, as appropriate, to ensure works are carried out by prescribed and agreed to standards and is fully compliant with all relevant policies and procedures
  • Management of works within an area of archaeological interest.
  • Setting out pipeline diversion route and working areas.
  • Fabrication and testing of all new diversion and temporary bypass pipework.
  • The construction of two number existing and future road crossings.
  • The fitting of two number stopple arrangements to facilitate decommissioning and commissioning works.
  • Reinstatement of working areas.
  • Management of all SCO requirements including PTW and NROs
