Forches Cross

In July 2019, Green Frog Utilities Ltd was awarded the contract to construct, install and commission a new HP diversion as part of the Forches Cross road development works near Newton Abbot.  The works, undertaken on behalf of the local distribution network, Wales and West Utilities, consisted of 105m of 500mm diameter welded high pressure gas pipeline and many high risk activities such as shaft excavations, tunnelling and bi-furcated flow-stops.

The new pipeline was installed utilising pipe-jacking techniques at a depth of 8m below the existing carriageway, before abandoning the existing pipeline to enable the major carriageway alteration works to commence in the area.

Green Frog Utilities, acting as principal contractor, commenced works in July 2019 and successfully completed this challenging project in December 2019.
