In April 2018, Green Frog Utilities Ltd was awarded the contract to design and build gas infrastructure for 100MWe of new build embedded power stations across the North West, South Wales and South of England.

The contract works included the project management of new gas connections, mains, and service infrastructure operating at pressures ranging from 2-7 bar, the supply of new meter installation, and outlet installation pipework to convey gas from the meter to generator installation.

This was a very challenging project covering multiple networks (Cadent, WWU, and SGN) and locations (each having their nuisances and challenges). Green Frog Utilities, acting as principal designer and principal contractor, commenced works in May 2018 and were able to complete all schemes both on time and budget.

Work content

Network design and submission including any iterations re-quired for approval/acceptance by the Upstream Network Operator (“UNWO”) and agreed Gas Transporter (“GT”)
Management of design and construction activities to ensure compliance with GIRS procedures, UIP network agreements and to facilitate adoption by the agreed GT
Stakeholder liaison, engagement, and management (Land, Legal, Network, GFPII, Viridis Power Ltd, GFC, GFP Trading, Genovate Power Ltd and Works Contractor)
Co-ordination and works management including construction audits, as appropriate, to ensure works are carried out by prescribed and agreed to standards and is fully compliant with all relevant policies and procedures
Supervisory duties as required under GIG/2 and Green Frog Utilities’ GIRS procedures
Construction of multiple MP/IP connections, mains, and services supplying 100MWe of new build embedded power stations
Pressure testing, pressurisation, and commissioning of gas in-frastructure, governor installations and associated pipework
Management of all SCO requirements including PTW and NROs
