Gas Connections

Green Frog Utilities designs and installs new gas connections across mainland UK, from a single commercial supply to full gas mains infrastructure on a new development. As a GIRS accredited contractor we carry out the work that the gas transporter will adopt, rather than waiting in the queue behind them, which is usually what decides whether a connection lands on programme or holds the rest of the site up.

GIRS accredited gas contractor

GIRS is the Gas Industry Registration Scheme. It is the accreditation that allows a contractor to design and lay gas mains and services that become part of the public gas network, and gas transporters will only accept that work from an accredited contractor.

Green Frog Utilities holds GIRS accreditation, so your gas connection can be delivered as a single piece of work. The design, the excavation, the mains laying, the service and the meter are handled by one contractor working to your programme, with the transporter involved for approval and final connection rather than for every stage.

New connections, upgrades and disconnections

New gas connections for developments, commercial units, industrial sites and build to rent schemes
New gas mains laid and prepared for adoption by the gas transporter
Commercial meter installation, including AMR and smart metering
Supply upgrades where an existing connection no longer meets demand
Disconnections and diversions where a supply is in the way of construction
Multi utility connections, with gas installed alongside water and electricity under one programme

Who we work with

Most gas connection enquiries come from developers, main contractors, consultants and site managers rather than the end occupier. That shapes how we work: one point of contact, a design and quotation you can put in front of a client, and a programme date that means something.

How a new gas connection works

1

Enquiry

The useful starting point is the site address, the utilities required and, where known, the load or capacity needed.

2

Site survey and design

The connection is designed around the site layout, the existing network and the demand.

3

Quotation

A fixed quotation is issued against that design.

4

Approval

The design is agreed with the gas transporter.

5

Installation

Excavation, mains laying, the service and the meter are carried out by our own teams.

6

Connection and handover

The supply is commissioned and the adoption paperwork is completed.

Gas connections across the UK
